David Miller and Aiden Markram scored the fifties as South Africa secured an emphatic victory over India at Perth. The Men in Blue managed to score 133 runs for the loss of 9 wickets at the Perth Stadium in Perth on Sunday.

Suryakumar Yadav stood tall among ruins with a 68-run inning, while the batting around him capitulated under the searing pace of Proteas — Lungi Ngidi bagged 4 wickets and ran through the Indian top order, while Wayne Parnell picked 3 wickets.

South Africa moved to the top of the group 2 points table and boosted their chances of making the semi-finals after recovering from 24 for 3 to successfully chase 134 against India.

India defeated the Netherlands by 56 runs to register their second consecutive win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Electing to bat, the Men in Blue scored 179 for 2 and then restricted Netherlands to 123 for 9. India produced a solid batting display with Rohit Sharma (53), Virat Kohli (62 not out), and Suryakumar Yadav (51 not out) – all scoring scintillating fifties.

Defending, pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/9) and Arshdeep Singh (2/37) and the spin duo of Axar Patel (2/18) and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/21) shone bright with the ball for the Men in Blue. The team’s five specialist bowlers shared the wickets, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Ravichandran Ashwin picking up two apiece, and Mohammed Shami one.

The Men in Blue posted their first win of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on board thanks to the brilliance of former captain Virat Kohli and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. However, the win was not without its hiccups along the way against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Hardik Pandya was impressive with the ball as well against Pakistan, picking up three important wickets and scoring 40 runs with the bat, putting on a record 113 runs for the fifth wicket with Virat Kohli who scored 82*.

Virat Kohli single-handedly powered India to an epic four-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan with a magnificent 53-ball 82 not out in their big-ticket ICC T20 World Cup 2022 game. Pakistan recovered from a wobbly start to post a fighting 159 for eight. India completed the chase in the last ball, with Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya (40) doing the bulk of the scoring after a horror start to their innings.

The two revived India with a 113-run stand for the fourth wicket after they were reeling at 31/4 at one stage. Sent in to bat, Pakistan were well served by Iftikhar Ahmed’s 34-ball 51 and Shan Masood’s unbeaten 52 off 42 balls after they lost their first two wickets with just 15 runs on the board in the fourth over. Arshdeep Singh picked both openers in form Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

India 160 for 6 (Kohli 82*, Hardik 40) beat Pakistan 159 for 8 (Masood 52*, Iftikhar 51, Arshdeep 3-32, Hardik 3-30) by four wickets

India had made a commanding total of 184 for 6, thanks mainly to a superlative return to the runs for KL Rahul (50 off 32), and another chapter in Virat Kohli’s spectacular form, as he made 66 not out of 44. Suryakumar Yadav’s 30 off 16 helped too. But when Litton Das blasted seven fours and three sixes inside the first seven overs, Bangladesh had an excellent foundation. They were 66 for no loss when rains interrupted and curtailed the match.

They should have been confident of scoring the 85 needed off the last nine overs (54 balls) upon resumption, particularly as the field was likely to be greasy following the downpour. But the opener Litton Das’ run-out for 60 turned the rain-hit game on its head as India won the thriller by 5 runs.

India beat Zimbabwe by 71 runs to top the group and set up the T20 World Cup semifinal against England. Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav hit a blistering half-century to spur India to 186/5 against Zimbabwe in their last group match in the T20 World Cup on Sunday.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma was dismissed early but KL Rahul carried on to score a 35-ball 51. Suryakumar Yadav then smashed an unbeaten 61 from 25 balls. In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 115 in 17.2 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin finished things off, taking 3 for 22 from his four overs.

England won against Afghanistan by 5 wickets, but lost to Ireland by 5 runs (DLS Method), while the match against Australia was abandoned due to rain. England won their last two matches against New Zealand by 20 runs and against Sri Lanka by 4 wickets.

Against New Zealand, England skipper opener Jos Buttler chose to bat first on a used pitch and produced his first significant innings of the tournament, making a superbly-paced 73 off 47 balls after two reprieves to set up England’s total of 179. He became England’s leading scorer in men’s T20Is in the process, on the night he won his 100th cap.

England managed to strike regularly towards the end: Ben Stokes removed Kane Williamson, Mark Wood rushed James Neesham, and Sam Curran closed out the win with a superb spell at the death.

Pacer Sam Curran (5/10) became the first England bowler to take a five-wicket haul in T20Is as Jos Buttler led England beat Afghanistan by 5 wickets in Perth in a Super 12 Group 1 match. Chasing a modest 113, England crossed the finish line with 11 balls to spare.

Sam Curran’s five-for dismantled Afghanistan as England notched a five-wicket win in their opening ICC T20 World Cup 2022 match on Saturday. Sam Curran sizzled with a five-wicket haul, giving away only 10 runs, while Ben Stokes (2/19) and Mark Wood (2/23) picked two wickets apiece to bundle out Afghanistan for 112. Defending a modest total, the Afghans made a game out of it but England eventually completed the task in 18.1 overs.

England got off to a steady start with Alex Hales and Jos Buttler putting on an opening stand of 35 runs. But they suffered a brief scare in the middle as they went on to lose four wickets in the space of just 46 runs. Afghanistan could also sense that they were back in the game. But Liam Livingstone stepped up and scored an unbeaten 29 from 21 deliveries to guide England home.

While achieving a target of 113 was always expected, the manner in which England struggled, particularly against Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Mohammad Nabi, spoke of a few kinks still to be ironed out. The spin trio conceded just one boundary between them and emerged with a wicket each.

Ireland won by 5 runs against England by Duckworth Lewis Method as England scored 105/5 in 14.3 overs in reply to Ireland’s 157 before rain intervened. The par score for England was 110 at that stage. Ireland was left disappointed for not making the most of the good start they got as they were bundled out for 157 runs with 5 balls to spare against England.

Mark Wood (3/34) and Liam Livingstone (3/17) were the wreckers in chief for England as apart from skipper Andrew Balbirnie who scored 62, none of the other Irish batters contributed more than 35. Joshua Little dismissed both openers, Jos Buttler, for naught and Alex Hales for 7 as England lost 2 wickets within the powerplay.

England went through to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, knocking Australia out in the process, thanks to a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka. It was an anxiety-riddled chase in the final match in Group 1, despite a target of 142 looking well within reach after openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales posted 75 for the first wicket inside eight overs.

But a series of unforced errors saw six wickets fall in the space of 65 deliveries, for the addition of just 54.  But Ben Stokes – as ever – saw England over the line with 42 from 36 that only contained two fours but constantly worked the scoreboard and Sri Lanka’s outfielders before Chris Woakes’ cut for four confirmed victories with two balls left.

Yuzvendra Chahal, the Indian leg-spinner has not yet featured in any game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. With Adelaide providing enough assistance for spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal might find himself playing probably in place of Axar Patel.
